Hockey Championships return to Avon

AVON — The fifth annual Rocky Mountain Pond Hockey Championships will be held at Nottingham Lake in Avon over the next two weekends.  The youth division plays Jan. 15-16, and adults play Jan. 21-23. This outdoor ice hockey tournament is an opportunity for all youth and adult hockey players to come out and enjoy the game of hockey the way it was supposed to be played — outdoors.  The format is a multi-division tournament with the following age divisions for adults: Seniors over 50, seniors over 40, senior open (no age restriction), and a women's division.  Youth divisions are from 7-17 years old. Each team will play three games on Saturday and at least one game on Sunday. All abilities are welcome. This year the tournament field is limited to 24 teams each weekend.  Teams can register by going online to www.rockymtnpondhockey.com. ;To register over the phone, contact Pat Hirn at 970-376-7499.
